From the Manufacturer (our review below):
Whether a novice or professional, the Swing Speed Radar from Sports Sensors will help you maximize your distance and control to take your game to the next level. A valuable aid for players of all ages and skill levels, the Swing Speed Radar is a powerful tool for coaches and instructors everywhere.
“It’s not how hard you swing, but how well you swing.”
The Swing Speed Radar is a small microwave Doppler radar velocity sensor that measures the swing speed of golfers and baseball/softball players. However, over-swinging can produce poor results. The Radar helps you improve both metrics by measuring your swing speed, determining the best speed for optimum performance, monitoring your swing consistency, and selecting the club or bat characteristics that best suit your swing type.
Golfers can use the device to determine the optimum swing for distance, control, and accuracy, while baseball/softball players can work on honing their bat speed to create consistently solid contact. The Swing Speed Radar’s real-time velocity feedback helps players and coaches measure improvements and troubleshoot swing mechanics.
Instructions for Best Results
To measure golf swing speed, merely position the Swing Speed Radar in a forward location about 8 to 10 inches directly away from the tee.
Our Review:
We loved this swing speed meter! It was really fun and very accurate. It really helps you experience what a fast swing feels like.
Out of the box, the Swing Speed Radar is just a small plastic square. Just looking at it, it’s difficult to see where the radar is and how it measures your swing speed. It’s fairly light weight, compact, and comes with a bag to keep it clean and safe. Overall, pretty good presentation.
Use:
The instructions were pretty straight forward and setup was not difficult. Probably the most difficult part was finding a good distance from the golf ball. If you place the Radar too far from your golf ball or facing the wrong direction, you can get inaccurate results. However, after some trial and error, we found a sweet spot. That was when we were able to get more accurate and repeatable swing speed readings.
We found this radar to be more reliable and precise than other methods of measuring swing speed. It was very reproducible and appeared to be consistent to the mph.
Using this radar was also a lot of fun! We could have friends try it out and everyone wanted to have the fastest swing. And of course, trying to swing harder did not often translate into a faster swing. This is the whole point of the swing meter, so we would say it did it’s job very well.
Cons:
This swing speed meter is a little more expensive than some other meters. This should be taken into account, but the accuracy and not having to put anything onto the club made it worth it for us.
